I started working in radio on my 15th birthday, and over the years I’ve also worked in TV and music recording studios here, in the UK, Spain & USA.
I’ve been pretty fortunate to have met and worked with some of the biggest ‘stars’ around. I won’t big-note myself naming all of them here but they were - and still are – among some of the biggest names around then and now.

Given my 'very early adopter' tech background, until this afternoon I hadn't thought about how much we all really do depend on the internet & phones etc these days. Especially if ONLY connecting wirelessly!
Here in Hervey Bay QLD, I've been doing some video editing for a client and wanted to grab a couple of images off their website. Bumma... website down. So checked some other sites. Same.
Thought it might be my special RV-WiFi unit so re-booted that. No luck.
Tried using the phone as a Mobile Hotspot. Same thing.

What is, in your opinion, being successful mean?
How do you know when you are successful?
Who in your opinion is successful? Is it a friend, relative, a Movie or TV Star, Bill Gates, or someone else and why?
Have a think for a moment, what is your definition of success?
A friend posed this very question to a group at a self improvement lecture.
The group all wrote down their own definition of success in life and were asked to read them out loud.

As community decision makers, parents, carers, coaches and teachers we all have an obligation to help train our children to perform well in the ‘Race of Life’.
Giving a ‘participation medal’ is training them for the unemployment benefit in the ‘race of real life’.
“It’s ok you don’t have to try harder!”.

It was about 9pm when the phone rang. The caller asked for Mr Pickering & said he was from OzLotto in Sydney.
Being suspicious of ‘late night callers’ I said in my best Spanish “Qué quieres?” (what do you want!) just to see where this potential scammer was heading.
“Mr Pickering I will need to confirm your identity in just a moment, however before I do – I hope you’re sitting down – I’m pleased to inform you that you’ve won tonight’s $8million Oz-Lotto!”

Ever said “where did that day/year go?”
We all have at some stage, and that’s the frightening thing isn’t it? As the old Steve Miller Band song says “Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'… Into the future”!!
As kids, it seemed ‘forever’ that Santa Claus was going to visit us again or school holidays weren’t long enough. As we get older time seems to speed up. A week goes by as if it were a day. So what can we do about it? Anything?

Living full-time in a caravan for the past 2.5 years, for some people might seem like a ‘chore’ or ‘too hard’.
For us?... WE LOVE IT! - as they say ‘Livin’ The Dream’ – so a ‘weekend away’ should be a piece of cake, right? Not necessarily… as you will see!

It was nearly November, and I was getting used to life in Australia, the corks were popping, and the mailbox filled with invitations to parties and BBQ’s. I was looking forward to it all, but realised stamina was needed to survive the all-night raves and BBQ’s
Who was I kidding!!?
Then along came the Melbourne Cup, the turning point in the Melbourne social calendar.
I was not quite prepared for it, as it hit like a runaway train!

As an 'early adopter' of technology... yep I had a Sinclair ZX-80 with 1Mb of memory and the very first Mac and *GASP* 16Mb hard drive plus the original 'Psion' (photo below)
It was exciting times in the early '80's, the 'interweb' had only really just started.
Prior to that time we used to actually 'talk' to each other... either by phone or OMG!!... email or SHOCK HORROR... IN PERSON!!! - remember that?

I was out on my daily walk recently politely acknowledging & smiling to the usual ‘regulars’ coming in the opposite direction. So nice to see other people out & about enjoying the fresh air too!
Then one morning, a fella stopped me and said… “Sorry for asking but are you somebody famous?”.

What is it about people today? … not just kids. Young adults & some families too!
It seems everywhere you go, someone has ditched a cigarette butt, a bottle of beer or tin of coke or in this photo I took on my morning walk... some Jim Beam & a wine cask, maybe a bag from Macca’s or a Domino’s Pizza box and more. In fact, a lot of the junk we see strewn around the place is also thrown from cars… especially cigarette butts!
