My wife recently came up with a brilliant idea. ‘The Pain Buzzer’.
She recently had a major dental visit where stage one of the bigger procedure of a dental implant was to drill some holes and insert some ‘screw beds’ ready for insertion of three crowns. Post initial procedure she was the ultimate ‘cranky’ patient. Her jaw was constantly sore despite the medically prescribed medications.

I first used this phrase “I am. You are. We are the media” on a Facebook post a few years ago by a very proactive Australian animal lib group blasting the ‘mainstream media’ for either not reporting the facts as they wanted them reported or for having what seemed to them to be an ‘anti-animal liberation’ slant in the story.

I live by it every day, but my kids still hate it! Whenever they have a whinge about something I say “Quick now, spell compromise!”
In fact it’s one of the very first words I learned as a kid thanks to my own dad. It really is something I’ve said to my children over the years and quite frankly, to other adults (and kids) as well when something comes up that seems to be an issue.

The boss at a radio station where I was working was chewing my ear one day, complaining like he always did about his life, his boss, his useless sales team, his feelings of unhappiness.
And out it popped… I didn’t plan to say it – but once I did – it seemed so right… So very much a step forward rather than just treading water, an option to make a difference, to end the endless gripes.
“If you don’t like it…why don'cha just leave?”

My dad died way too young. I’m reminded of this every time I see my father-in-law who - at the time of writing - was a ridiculously fit 80 something (sadly he passed away peacefully in 2021 aged 96) who went travelling with his buddies on cheap boat cruises and loved taking his girlfriend dancing. (She’s not into travelling like he is).
